Why Staying In A Hotel Is Better Than An Airbnb

You may have wondered whether or not you should rent an Airbnb or Vrbo apartment or condo for your next vacation. For many travelers, they have been good options, but there have been stories of their stay not being what they thought it would be. In some cases, an online rental might be the right choice, but there are reasons why you might want to consider staying in a hotel instead.

Here are some reasons why staying in a hotel can be a good choice.

Check-In Is Often Easier And More Convenient

While some online rentals do have a pretty easy check-in process, they do tend to be a bit more cumbersome than if you stayed in a hotel. With a hotel, there is always someone at the front desk to help you to check in, day or night.

In many cases, it's possible to check into a hotel without a reservation, which is extremely helpful if you have been driving all day and are too tired to look up available Airbnb rentals or hotel rooms online before you arrive.

You don't have to worry about writing down or remembering lockbox numbers to get access to the rental's keys. Plus, if you arrive late at night due to unforeseen circumstances such as a delayed flight, you may have to wait until the next day to check in to a rental. The process of check-in at a hotel is usually easier and more convenient.

You Know What You Will Get

While there are many hosts who write the descriptions of their rentals very well and offer great pictures so you have an idea of what to expect, oftentimes when you arrive at an Airbnb or Vrbo, the rental isn't quite what you thought it was.

It might be smaller with only a partial kitchen, you may be sharing it with the owners or other renters, or the neighborhood is further from the attractions you wanted to see than was stated in the description.

When you stay in a hotel, you will know ahead of time what you will get. Hotels are consistent in their decor, cleanliness, staff friendliness, and helpfulness across their entire chain system. They are located close to most major attractions and often have amenities you won't find in a rental.

You will find that if you stay in a smaller hotel the same is true because they cater to their guests to ensure they really enjoy their stay.

Hotels Won't Cancel On You

There have been instances of Airbnb or Vrbo owners canceling reservations for guests on short notice. It can effectively ruin your vacation or even strand you in a strange city with nowhere to stay. A hotel will not cancel on you, so you will always have a room available with a reservation.

You can also change your reservation if you need to or ask for an upgrade, something you can't do in a rental.
